Permanent Lip Color
Through a smile, a pout, or perhaps a kiss, lips are the bearer of our emotions. Healthy lips can make you look young, sophisticated, sensual or exotic. Likewise, thin, pale, colorless lips look lifeless…and well…old.
Women across the world spend multiple hours and multiple dollars on lipsticks and liners, plumpers and glosses trying to get that perfect shape and perfect color. Even with all of the available products, many of us feel our lips are too small, too thin, or asymmetrical. Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to eat, even kiss, and still retain that youthful glow?
Permanent lip liner and lip blushing is the solution to rejuvenating your smile. Lip color lasts anywhere from 1-5 years before needing a color-boost.
Lip Color Tattooing Does NOT require Two Visits...
Upfront price of $695.00 for lips includes only one session. Many clients do want a second session, but some are happy only after one. A second session is chargeable starting at $195.00+. Pricing is determined by time, products used and how much needs to be added.
History Of Cold Sores...
If you are having a lip procedure and have any history of cold sores/fever blisters/herpes simplex, you will be required to contact Lauren Carey, the tattoo technician (570-674-5555); or either The Renaissance Center for Plastic Surgery (570-674-6525) to obtain the proper prescription to prevent such outbreaks. Dr. Collini will prescribe a 10-day prescription of Valtrex over the phone to your pharmacy. You must contact Lauren or Dr. Collini at least 1 week prior to your procedure. Valtrex must be taken at least 3 days prior to procedure and 7 days after the procedure.
How does the numbing work?
Lips are the most sensitive part of the face to tattoo because they are full of nerve endings. This is why we have mandated our clients to receive Epinephrine Needle Numbing by Dr. Collini prior to their appointment. This “dental block numbing” is an additional $100.00 charge to the Renaissance Center for Plastic Surgery. This is similar to getting “numb” at the dentist. This allows for an extremely comfortable procedure with almost zero pain at all. Clients are able to relax and fall asleep during the lip tattoo procedure as a result of this numbing technique. It allows for Lauren to work quicker and implant more pigment into the skin in only one session. It is what we like to call a “win-win” for everyone! *Clients must come upstairs to Age of Innocence first before getting numb so Lauren can draw the vermillion border on your lips and “mark” the area with a blue surgical temporary marker. This allows for a seamless guideline after the lips have been numb and the shape becomes temporarily distorted as a result.

What to Expect
The Procedure:
Clients will first arrive at door number 2: Age of Innocence.
Clients will fill out Medical Intake Forms.
The consultation will commence where color and design will be chosen. Lips will be outlined with a lip liner pencil and blue surgical marker (temporary marker). This ensures the shape does not get lost after the lips are numb.
From here, Lauren or an AOI Staff Member will guide you downstairs to door number 1: The Renaissance Center for Plastic Surgery. The client can either chose to remain in the main waiting room (with an optional surgical mask to hide the blue marker dots), or to go into a private waiting room away from the masses.
The client will again need to fill out Renaissance Center Medical Intake Forms.
Once Doctor Collini is ready, the staff will bring you back to one of the consultation rooms.
Here, Dr. Collini will numb the area with an injectable lidocaine. This is a 5-needle combination placed along the inside of the lips. Although not the greatest feeling, this will create a “nerve block,” which will make the lip tattoo procedure extremely comfortable. The client will feel little to no pain whatsoever.
Upon completion of the nerve block, the client will pay $100 at the Renaissance Center check out window.
Then, a staff member will guide you upstairs back to door number 2.
Then, you will be brought back to a relaxing room with comfortable seating and music.
Lauren will begin tattooing, and the process will go very smoothly from this point because the client will be very numb.
What is the healing process like?
After the procedure, your lips will be extremely swollen and the lip color will appear very dark and vivid. Swelling usually subsides within 3 days and lip color begins to peel and heal within the next 3-5 days after the procedure. Once it first peels, color will appear very dull and light. This is normal. Lip color takes the full SIX WEEKS to come to the surface and be full and vibrant. Lips will feel chapped and very dry for one month after procedure. You must keep your lips hydrated with Collini MD Healing Ointment (given upon check out) during the next 6 weeks after lip procedure. Clients can use this healing ointment all day, every day. If this healing ointment is unavailable, clients can substitute with Cicalfate or Aquaphor. “Cold Crème Lips by Avene,” a superb chap stick is also recommended upon checkout. A 6-week healing time is CRUCIAL in between appointments. Color will continue to change every week during the healing process until 6 weeks is complete.
